1. Prolotherapy hurts?
It depends a lot of infiltration areas concerned, however, often the treatment is painless when it is practiced a good local anesthetic. The anesthetic injection can be considered as the only minimal pain to bear. If the patient is particularly sensitive to the pain of local anesthesia, you can apply an anesthetic cream which helps to cancel the local pain.
2. How should I lead the next day and what should I expect?
The next day you can have a slight feeling of pain or heaviness in the infiltrated locations, a slight soreness similar to a bruise. This blunt pain tends to disappear in a few days. It is recommended to take “Only” of painkillers such as Tachiprina or Efferalgan (Paracetamol). The general advice is to continue daily life ever.
3. I’ve heard of cortisone infiltrations, Prolotherapy is the same thing?
The treatment of Prolotherapy is absolutely different from the treatments with “cortisone”. Scientific studies have shown for years that cortisone injections weaken the tissues; on the contrary, the infiltrative Prolotherapy solution determines a reinforcement and a regenerative process of ligaments and tendons.
4. This treatment may work for migraine headache?

The sometimes Migraines can be caused by a lesion in the neck ligaments. The same ligament injury can result in symptoms associated with pain radiating from the head up to the neck causing dizziness, blurred vision, tinnitus, loss of balance, and other symptoms. Patients who suffer from migraines caused by ligament injuries respond well to treatment of Prolotherapy. The famous “whiplash” distractive post distortion trauma of the cervical spine, has an excellent response with the targeted treatment of Prolotherapy.

5. I am diabetic, I can do Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy has no contraindication metabolism in diabetics for the small amount of sugar used in infiltration. The solution of water and sugar infiltrated in the tendons or ligaments is totally harmless for the diabetic patient unlike cortisone which instead is not recommended for diabetics.

6. sciatic pain?

The sciatic pain is indicative of a lumbar instability that propagates to the leg. In reality is neither sciatica or sciatic nerve injury to cause suffering, but rather a relaxation of the ligaments that support the pelvis and its ramifications. Prolotherapy appears to be an excellent treatment for this type of pathology.

7. How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Many of my patients tell me that they held partial or total benefit of pain after just one treatment. Patients who have a good immune system and are in good health usually respond with fewer sessions. On average, each person needs at least 3 – 4 sessions away from 4 – 6 weeks apart.

8. Prolotherapy is safe and harmless?

Prolotherapy is a very safe procedure and harmless. The risks are much lower than employing a simple aspirin or drugs to relieve chronic pain. Of course there is always a small risk as in all procedures related to medicine. In Prolotherapy the risks or adverse reaction will vary depending on the different anatomical areas treated, and will be the proloterapista doctor who will explain in detail to the patient during the first sight of consultation all the details of the treatment.

9. Athletes may have benefit with Prolotherapy?

The sports injuries are often distracting and distorting origin that is, tendons and ligaments. If these athletes are treated appropriately and targeted with Prolotherapy, they can take the sport very quickly and with excellent results. For example, sprains knee ligament causing a joint instability also followed by a local swelling determined by physiological defense. With Prolotherapy, it applies a direct immune attack infiltrative proliferative which accelerates the healing of unstable ligament. In this way, the instability treated (eg. Knee, shoulder, back, etc.) resumes its physiological function with a guarantee that will not lose its function because regenerated and reinforced. For sports injuries Prolotherapy is an absolutely beneficial treatment and recommended. Numerous clubs, sports clubs and individual athletes who have already tested and used with great success Prolotherapy: the SCI’s national team of the United States, many US teams, professional and not, Basketball and American Football are using this fabulous therapy does not surgical for their athletes, with extraordinary results.

10. You can practice prolotherapy in children?

Yes, just the children have an immune response to the very effective repair. They react to treatment in a decidedly positive.

11. Prolotherapy can be practiced to animals?

Yes!! Many veterinarians in the United States are using this wonderful therapy in animals with great success, sometimes with just one treatment session.

12. I’m pregnant, can I do prolotherapy?

Yes, absolutely there are no contraindications, indeed many pregnant women suffer from low back pain and could not take anti-inflammatory drugs, therefore Prolotherapy is an effective and absolutely not harmful treatment.

13. How do I know if prolotherapy works for me?

Prolotherapy function well where there is pain in the apparatus skeletal muscle, but it must be done by proloterapisti with years of experience. The benefits as in all therapies are gradual, so the pain subsides after 2-3 sessions. When there is a lesion area of a complex of muscles, tendons and ligaments, and is treated as a choice prolotherapy, the doctor will also assess muscle-wasting atrophy to be reinforced because these muscles may be weak giving a partial success of proloterpia instead of total result.

14. Prolotherapy is for patients with musculoskeletal disorders?

Prolotherapy is effective in many painful disorders of the musculoskeletal system such as, arthritis, Artosi, back pain, pain on your neck, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, unresolved clinical cases of “whiplash” of the cervical spine, carpal tunnel syndrome , partial tendon injury, ligament and cartilage, and sciatica.

15. I am heart disease, prolotherapy can I do?

Absolutely yes!!! Many patients are treated with anticoagulants and I can not take anti-inflammatory drugs for which this therapy is an effective alternative to remove the pain. Many pain syndromes may eventually develop as a contraindication depressive syndromes that, with prolotherapy the patient can find a balance of well-being that has long lacked.
